What do you want to see during your Cambodian motorcycle tour?

If you’re looking for a ride high up in the mountains then the Cardamoms is the place for you. Offering a fantastic variety of trails and stunning scenery, this is any motorcycle riders paradise. Take it easy and cruise through the hills or challenge yourself and hit the steep rocky sections for a more technical ride.

Cambodia is a country that is full of interesting history and culture and the motorcycle offers the unique chance to explore some of the lesser known sites. We will take you off the beaten track to visit remote ancient Khmer temples that are seldom visited by tourists.

There are some beautiful tropical beaches in Cambodia and they are well worth a visit either during or at the end of your motorcycle adventure tour. The southern coastline is also home to some excellent riding and interesting towns.

There are some great opportunities across Cambodia for riding in thick jungle. Carve your way along tight singletrack trails, crouch underneath low lying branches and hack your way through bamboo forests.

How challenging would you like the motorcycle riding to be?

For those that have never ridden off-road and are not keen to give it a go. All of the riding will be on sealed roads and dirt roads. Remember though – this is Cambodia, so expect the road conditions to vary!

For inexperienced riders that would like to have a go at some trail riding. The majority of the terrain will be on dirt roads, but we will venture off onto easy trails where possible.

A mix of singletrack and open trail riding with some sections of shallow sand / mud (depending on the time of year) and some river crossings. Highway riding and easy dirt roads will be kept to a minimum.

Long stretches of deep sand or mud, uneven ox-cart trails in the jungle and some rocky tracks. There may also be low lying bamboo or trees that we’ll need to pass the bikes under. A good level of fitness is essential (especially for the lesser experienced rider).

Expect some steep rocky hill climb sections, deep sand, small wooden bridges and deep rocky rivers to cross. Fit and experienced riders ONLY!

What are your preferred touring dates?

November – December

The rains have stopped but the rivers will be running high and there’ll still be mud on the ground (especially in early November)… this all makes for some amazing riding conditions.

January – April

Conditions are drier at this time of year and January – February is much cooler. There are some easy riding conditions available, and for those of you that enjoy your sand riding, you will have a lot of fun in certain parts of the country. The technical trails up in the Cardamom’s are also great at this time of year

May – July

The rains are starting to arrive now, with some spectacular thunderstorms in the afternoons. These rains are very welcome as they help keep the dust down, compact the sands and introduce some exciting muddy sections to the trails.

August – October

Only for fit and experienced off-road riders! If you’re looking to challenge yourself then this might be the ideal time for you. No doubt we will have to carry the bikes across rivers, call in help from local wooden boats and wrestle the bikes through the mud. Not for the faint hearted!
