IS RIDE CAMBODIA AND RIDE EXPEDITIONS THE SAME COMPANY?

No. Ride Cambodia is a team of Cambodian locals. Ride Expeditions Ltd is a UK company that works with Ride Cambodia for their tours here in Cambodia. Ride Expeditions tours are booked through their financially protected UK company, usually fully inclusive, led by a British paramedic, with support vehicles, and high standards of accommodation etc. Ride Cambodia tours can be customised to suit your personal preferences.

HOW DO I BOOK?

To book your place on a ride we require a booking deposit of US $500 to be paid into our Cambodian bank account. We will issue an invoice for the full tour payment 2 months prior to the start of the tour and we require this to be paid within 30 days. To avoid international transfer fees, we will accept the final tour payment in cash upon arrival.

We also require a US $500 cash deposit for the motorcycle. This must be paid upon arrival – we will keep the deposit secure and return it to you at the end of the tour, minus any bike damages.

HOW DO I PAY?

The deposit must be paid into our Cambodian bank account. The final tour payment can either be paid into our Cambodian bank account, or in cash upon arrival. As a Cambodian company, we are not able to accept payments via credit / debit card / PayPal. If this concerns you, please look at booking a tour with British company, Ride Expeditions.

WHAT IS THE US $500 MOTORCYCLE DEPOSIT?

Upon arrival, we require a US $500 motorcycle damage deposit. We will keep this money secure until the end of the tour – we will then return this amount to you, minus any motorcycle damages.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

Inclusions differ from tour to tour, so please be sure to check the tour descriptions and itineraries for details. Get in touch with us if you have any queries.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

Helmet, goggles / glasses, trouser / motocross pants, a sturdy pair of boots and a long sleeved top / jersey. We strongly recommend that you bring all your own kit as it is very important that you are comfortable on the ride.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO BRING YOUR OWN KIT PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH US TO ENQUIRE WHAT KIT WE MIGHT HAVE AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO BORROW.

WHAT BIKES DO WE USE?

We officially own the most modern fleet of tour motorcycle in Cambodia. We use the ever reliable Kawasaki KLX 250 (most of which we bore out to 300cc) and the Yamaha WR450F – all 2013+ fuel injected models. Follow this link for more information on the bikes.

IS IT NECESSARY TO HOLD A VALID MOTORCYCLE LICENSE?

Yes, it is our requirement that all of our riders have a valid motorcycle license in their home country. It is also recommended that you obtain an international license. PLEASE BE SURE TO DOUBLE CHECK THE REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR TRAVEL INSURANCE COMPANY.

HOW MUCH RIDING EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?

We require all of our riders to have a minimum of 2 years riding experience under their belts. The actual amount of experience required varies from tour to tour, so please contact us directly for more information. Our tour leaders are more than happy to chat with you on the phone to discuss this in more detail.

WHAT ABOUT TRAVEL INSURANCE?

We insist that all of our riders obtain appropriate travel insurance. Be sure to double check with the insurance company that they will cover you for riding motorcycles on AND off-road (check the engine size) in Cambodia, and what license they require you to have. As a minimum, the insurance must cover medical evacuation and hospitalization. We recommend HolidaySafe.co.uk

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DAMAGE THE MOTORCYCLE?

Minor damage is covered by us. Major damage caused by rider error will need to be covered by yourself. Prior to the start of every tour we will talk to you about motorcycle damage and you will sign a list of various damage costs. We are always fair about motorcycle damage – this we do not wish to profit from!

We can provide a ‘damage insurance plan’ for a small additional daily cost… see individual tour pricing for more details.

DO I NEED A TENT / SLEEPING BAG / HAMMOCK?

No. Any camping gear required will always be provided for you.

DO I NEED A VISA?

Yes. Although tourist visas can be obtained on arrival at airports or land borders, we strongly recommend you obtain one in advance by applying online (it just means you get to skip all of the queues at the airport / border!). Tourist visas are valid for 30 days and currently cost US $30. Follow this link to apply online.

WHAT IMMUNISATIONS DO I NEED?

Certain vaccinations are recommended for Cambodia… Please contact a doctor in your home country for specific recommendations.

WHAT ABOUT MALARIA?

It is true that malaria does exist in some of the remote areas of Cambodia. Generally these areas are quite low-risk, but please contact your doctor in your home country for recommendations on what medication (if any) you should be taking.

DO WE HAVE A SUPPORT VEHICLE ON THE TRIP?

Support vehicles are available for every tour. We always recommend a support vehicle as they carry spare parts and a spare bike in case of a breakdown, they carry your luggage and they also have spare seats in case you need a day off of the bike due to illness or injury. The support vehicle will also meet with us throughout the day to provide freshly prepared lunches and cold drinks.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET INJURED ON A RIDE?

We have a local medic that is available to join the rides (if you would prefer to have a British paramedic riding with the group, check out the Ride Expeditions tours). In the event of a serious injury we will work together with your travel insurance company to arrange emergency transportation as quickly and efficiently as possible.

HOW DO WE CARRY OUR LUGGAGE?

If your tour is accompanied by a support vehicle then this will carry your main luggage for the entire trip. If your tour is not accompanied by a support vehicle then we recommend you only pack the essentials in a backpack – we can then transport your main luggage to the final hotel via taxi. For motorcycle luggage systems suitable for mounting on our dirt bikes, we highly recommend the Wolfman E-12 Saddlebags and the Wolfman Tank Bag.

CAN YOU CATER FOR VEGETARIANS / FOOD ALLERGIES?

Although we cannot make any guarantees, we will make every effort possible to ensure that your food requirements are communicated properly to all kitchens. Please get in touch with us if you have more questions about the types of food to expect.
